One hut, two names
Drawn to the ashram by Gandhiji’s ideology. Vinoba Bhave lived here from 1918 to 1921. He stayed in this hut for a few months during this period. Vinoba’s total commitment to truth led Gandhiji to hail him as the model satyagrahi.
Madeleine Slade, a young English woman. learnt of Gandhiji’s Ideology from Romain Rolland’s book. As Gandhiji’s disciple she lived in this hut between 1925 and 1933 Gandhiji named her Mira because of her great devotion.
