פה חנתה בשנים תרפ"ג--תרפ"ט (1929-1923) פלוגת תל-אביב של גדוד העבודה וההגנה ע’’ש יוסף טרומפלדור.
הפלוגה הוקמה בראשות יצחק שדה. בי"א באלול, תר"פ (1920), במלאות שישה חודשים לנפילת טרומפלדור וחבריו בתל-חי.
הגדוד שאף לאחד את כל הפועלים העברים בארץ בקומונה כללית אחת לעבודה ולהגנה, פלוגותיו הקימו את עין חרוד, תל-יוסף, רמת רחל ועוד.
פלוגת תל-אביב סללה רחובות, בנתה בתים, ובהם "הבית האדום".

The Tel Aviv Company of the Labor Battalion, founded by Yitzhak Sadeh and named after Joseph Trumpeldor, was stationed here between 1923 and 1929. The battalion paved roads and built houses throughout the city, including the Red House.
