Rua das Flores

A rua foi aberta a partir de 1521, em terrenos ocupados pelashortas do Bispo. Passou a ser uma das principais vias da cidade,escolhida por nobres e burgueses que agui construíram luxuosospalacetes. De entre os edificios, destacam-se a Casa dos Maias(N° 29) e a dos Cunhas Pimentáis (esquina com o Largo deS. Domingos), cuja construção remonta ão séc XVI. Na Casados Sousa e Silva (N° 79-83), o brasão ostenta a data de 1703A chamada Casa dos Constantinos (N° 139) ésigualmente doséc. XVIII. Na Casa da Companhia (N° 69) funcionou desde o séc. XVIII a Companhia Geral da Agricultura dosVinhos do Alto Douro, criada pelo Marques de Pombal

The street was opened from 1521 onwards and ran across horticultural land belonging to the Bishop. It became one of the city’s most important streets, favoured by the nobles and bourgeois who built luxurious manor houses here. Among the finer buildings are the Casa dos Maias (N° 29) and the Casa dos Cunhas Pimentéis (on the corner of Largo de S. Domingos) which were built in the 16th century. Casa dos Sousa e Silva (N° 79-83) and Casa dos Constantinos (N° 139) date from the 18 thcentury.
