Cafe de la Régence founded in 1681 (the name Cafe de la Régence was given to it in 1715), was a meeting place and the center of the chess players of France and Europe.
Among the personalities who frequented the place were: Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Francois Andre Philidor, Napoleon Bonaparte and more.
