נשיאה החמישי של מדינת ישראל, שר החינוך והתרבות; מורה ומחנך
איש רוח ומעש שוחר שלום, אוהב אדם באשר הוא אדם
בן ירושלים מדורי דורות .צאצא למשפחת אביו מקהילת יוצאי ספרד שעלתה מתורכיה בשנת 1670, ומצד אמו - נצר למשפחת הרב חיים בן עטר ממרוקו, בעל הספר "אור החיים" שהגיעה לעיר בשנת 1884. בקורות חייו נרשמו שבעה עשורים של עשייה ציבורית שבהם כיהן, בין היתר, כמזכירו ואיש אמונו של ראש הממשלה דוד בן גוריון, דיפלומט, חבר כנסת, שר החינוך התרבות והספורט, וסגן ראש הממשלה.
שנות נשיאותו, כשלצידו רעייתו אופירה נחרטו בתולדותיה של המדינה כשנים של יצירה מתמשכת למען צמצום הפערים וקירוב הלבבות בין העדות והדתות השונות, ולמען עיצוב דמותה של החברה בישראל.
לצד תפקידיו הממלכתיים עסק בכתיבה. בין יצירותיו בולט "בוסתן ספרדי", מחזה המעלה על נס את צור מחצבתו - תרבות יהודי ספרד ושפת הלאדינו- ואת ערש לידתו – ירושלים.
קריאת התחנה על שם יצחק נבון מהווה גושפנקה ומתן תוקף למאחד ולמגשר, למשרה הבנה ואחווה, והוקרה ל-"נשיא העם", שסלל מסילות אל לב לבה של ההוויה הישראלית.

The Fifth President of the State of Israel, Minister of Education and Culture; Teacher and Educator
A Peace-loving Man of Vision and Achievements, With Unconditional Respect for all Humankind

President Yitzhak Navon was born in Jerusalem in 1921. His family’s presence in Jerusalem dated back centuries. His father’s family originated in Spain, moved to Turkey following the Expulsion, and arrived in Jerusalem in 1670. His mother was a descendant of the renowned Moroccan-Jewish Kabbalist and author of Or Ha Chaim, Chaim Ibn Attar, who settled in Jerusalem in 1884.
Yitzhak Navon served Israel for more than seven decades in various official capacities - He was Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion’s personal secretary and confidante, Diplomat, Minister of Education, Deputy Prime Minister, Knesset Member and Chairman of the Zionist General Council.
Navon was elected president of the State of Israel on May 29, 1978. The years of Navon’s presidency, with his wife, Ofira, by his side, were of relentless effort to narrow the socio-economic gaps and to promote social cohesion, unity, mutual responsibility and tolerance between Israel’s many communities, cultures and religions.
In addition to his many public roles, Yitzhak Navon was a gifted playwright who contributed significantly to cultural life in Israel and illuminated the culture of Sephardi Jewry and the Ladino language. His most famous play, "Bustan Sephardi", recounts the story of a Sephardic family in multicultural Jerusalem.
Naming this Station in memory of Yitzhak Navon, the "People’s President", is a tribute to a leader who unified, promoted understanding and brotherhood, and who paved crucial paths between Israelis from diverse communities and left an incredible mark on the country’s history.

الرئيس الخامس لدولة اسرائيل وزير التربية والتعليم: معلم ومربي رجل روحي وعملي يسعى للسلام, يحب الانسان لكونه انسان

ابن القدس من أجيال عديدة سلالة عائلة أبيه من الجالية الاسبانية التي هاجرت الى البلاد من تركيا في سنة 1670، ومن طرف أمه سليل عائلة الحاخام حاييم بن عطار من المغرب، صاحب كتاب "اور" هماييم التي وصلت إلى البلدة في سنة 1884. تتضمن سيرته الذاتية سبعة عقود من العمل الجماهيري التي خدم فيها كسكرتير وأمين سر رئيس الوزراء دافيد بن غوريون، سياسي، عضو كنيست، وزير التربية والتعليم والرياضة، ونائب رئيس الحكومة.
حضرت سنوات رئاسته، وبجانبه زوجته أوفيرا في تاريخ البلاد كسنوات من العمل المستمر من أجل تقليص الفجوات وتقريب القلوب بين مختلف الطوائف والأديان، ومن أجل تشكيل صورة المجتمع الإسرائيلي إلى جانب وظائفه الحكومية انخرط في الكتابة من أبرز أعماله بستان اسباني، وهو عرض يستحضر حياته بأعجوبة - ثقافة يهود أسبانيا ولغة اللادينو ومهد ولادته القدس.
ان تسمية المحطة على اسم يتسحاق نافون يعتبر ختم قبول الموحد والوسيط لوحي التفهم والأخوة، وتكريما لـ "رئيس الشعب"، الذي مهد الطريق للوصول الى صميم قلب الوجود الاسرائيلي.
