Théâtre de la Michodière
A l’emplacement de l’hôtel de Lorge, vendu par lots, s’ouvre en 1778 la rue de La Michodière. A peu près à l’endroit où s’élevait jusqu’en 1690 la porte Gaillon de l’enceinte de Louis XIII, l’architecte Auguste Bluysen édifie en 1925 un théâtre dans le style Art Déco. Décorée par Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann, la salle rouge et or peut accueillir 900 spectateurs. Inaugurée le 16 novembre 1925 sous la houlette de Gustave Quinson, elle est dirigée dès 1927 par les acteurs qui font le succès de ses spectacles: Victor Boucher, Yvonne Printemps, Pierre Fresnay, François Périer, avec des cuvres d’Edouard Bourdet, André Roussin, Jean Anouilh, Marcel Achard ou Françoise Dorin.

One of the series of signs describing historical places in Paris. The signs were placed starting in 1992 and are also called sucettes Starck (Starck’s Lollipops) after Philippe Starck who designed them.

The sign describes the theater that has been active since 1925 until today.

Théâtre de la Michodière
On the site of the Hôtel de Lorge, sold in lots, rue de La Michodière opened in 1778. Approximately where the Gaillon gate of the Louis XIII enclosure stood until 1690, the architect Auguste Bluysen built a theater in the Art Deco style in 1925. Decorated by Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann, the red and gold room can accommodate 900 spectators. Inaugurated on November 16, 1925 under the leadership of Gustave Quinson, it was directed from 1927 by the actors who made its shows successful: Victor Boucher, Yvonne Printemps, Pierre Fresnay, François Périer, with works by Edouard Bourdet, André Roussin , Jean Anouilh, Marcel Achard or Françoise Dorin.
