The first English Civil War took place between the years 1642-1645 between forces that supported the monarchy (Charles I) and the supporters of the Parliament and ended with the victory of the supporters of the Parliament.
Colonel Henry Washington (1664-1615) belonged to the supporters of the monarchy, and as indicated on a plaque one of his descendants is the first president of the United States, George Washington.
