Established in 1926 by immigrants from Lithuania, Romania, Poland and the Czech Republic and belongs to the national kibbutz. Named after the biblical city of "Sarid" which is mentioned as the border of the tribe of Zebulun "And the third lot came up for the children of Zebulun according to their families; and the border of their inheritance was unto Sarid" (Joshua 19:10), which was later identified as the nearby Tel Shddud.
