The American Patton M47, produced in the early 1950’s, replaced the older World War II Sherman tank. This vehicle had new suspension, a large-caliber main gun and an optical rangefinder, which were non-existent in previous tanks. The M47 is the only tank that did not play any active combat role in the U.S. military. Such a tank served in the Jordanian Army the during the 1967 Six Day War and was captured by the IDF. This tank was displayed at the monument in the Dotan Valley.
