Born in Markušovce, Slovakia (1911-2006), immigrated to Israel in 1962.
An Israeli sculptor who, during World War II, was sent to the Auschwitz extermination camp, which later influenced her work.
The number tattooed on her hand in Auschwitz, 5170, is mentioned in her sculpture exhibition "Elsa Polk: Auschwitz 5170"
