Born in Angers, France (1788-1856).
French sculptor, "David d’Angers" being the nickname of Pierre-Jean David. He was one of the leading sculptors of the Neoclassical and Romantic movements and became renowned for the numerous portrait medallions he created of the prominent figures of his time. Among his best-known works is the pediment of the Panthéon in Paris . His sculptures can also be found at other well-known sites in Paris, including the Odéon Theatre and Père Lachaise Cemetery.
