Born in Avignon, France (1805-1864). A French sculptor of the Neoclassical school. Brian studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1832, he was awarded the prestigious Prix de Rome, which allowed him to continue his studies for several years at the Académie de France in Rome. He was known for his marble sculptures and for depicting historical and mythological figures.
