Born in Ravières, France (1730-1805). French sculptor who worked in the Neoclassical and Late Baroque styles. In 1754 he won the Prix de Rome for sculpture. He later became a professor at the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture in Paris, creating numerous works for churches, palaces, and public buildings, including sculptures for Chartres Cathedral and the Palace of Versailles.
