Sculptor

Born in Paris, France (1790-1868).
A French Neoclassical sculptor who studied at the École des Beaux-Arts. In 1809, he won the prestigious Prix de Rome for sculpture, which enabled him to study and work in Italy for several years.

He sculpted the allegorical statue representing the city of Nantes, one of the eight statues adorning the corners of the Place de la Concorde, as well as the statue of Marie de’ Medici , exhibited at the Salon of 1847. His works adorn the façade of the Louvre Palace and major churches in Paris, including the Church of Saint-Sulpice and the Church of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette.
