Born in Vienna, Austria (1926–2010). He immigrated to Israel in 1947 after escaping from the Germans and attempting to reach the country aboard an illegal immigrant ship that was intercepted by the British in 1946. He is best known for his paintings and illustrations, particularly those that accompany the children’s book “An Apartment for Rent” . Recipient of the Golden Pencil Award (2007), the Nordau Prize (1974), the Nahum Gutman Illustration Prize (1985), and the Dosh Prize for Cartooning (2006).
