Born in Codisotto (Reggio Emilia), Italy (1925-2019)
Austrian sculptor considered one of the pioneers of abstract sculpture in Austria after World War II. He arrived in Vienna as a forced laborer from Italy during the war, stayed there and became one of the most influential artists in the city (and even served as a professor at the University of Applied Arts).
As a sculptor, he initially worked on restoring statues and monuments damaged in the war (including the Plague Column ), and later on his abstract sculptures.
