Born in Caprese Michelangelo, Italy (1475-1564). Michelangelo Buonarroti was one of the greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance and one of the greatest artists of all time. A true polymath, who in addition to sculpture and painting was also an engineer, architect, and poet.
He is known for creating the statue David
as well as for painting the frescoes in the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, including the famous image “The Creation of Adam,” in which God passes the spark of life to man with His finger.
