Born in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, Great Britain (1703-1635) One of the greatest scientists of the 17th century. Worked as an assistant to physicist and chemist Robert Boyle. Built the first compound microscope and improved weather forecasting instruments including the hydrometer, barometer, and more. As an architect he was one of the prominent figures in the reconstruction of London after the Great Fire in 1666.
