The King David Garden
This is the first garden built in Ir HaGanim (Garden City). Its planting commenced in 1928 (and it is therefore known as the "patriarch of the gardens").
At first, the garden was called "The King George Garden" after the King of Britain.
In June 1935, at a celebration of the silver jubilee of the coronation of King George V, the garden was officially inaugurated in the presence of a delegate of the British Government, and a large crowd.
In 1937, the area of the garden had increased to about 13.5 dunams; public benches, water fountains and carpets of grass were installed, and 12 flower beds were planted.
In 1948 its name was changed to the "King David Garden."
