The sign is on the wall of the house where S. Y. Agnon lived - writer, born in Buchach, Ukraine (1887-1970), immigrated to Israel in 1908.
Shmuel Yosef Agnon - one of the great Israeli writers of the modern era. In his books he mainly describes the Jews in the Diaspora.
He lived in Tel Aviv as soon as he immigrated to Israel, until he went to Germany for a period of 12 years.
Winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature (1966), the Israel Prize for Literature (1954, 1958), and many other awards and titles.
