The mosque, inaugurated in 2014, was the second largest in Israel, and was established with the financial assistance of Chechnya. The opening ceremony of the mosque was attended by Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov, whose mosque is named after his father - Ahmed Kadyrov, the first Chechen president killed in a 2004 bomb blast.
