Clementine
Scientific name: Citrus x aurantium
A tree from the citrus family. Clementine is a variety of citrus fruit that is similar in shape, color and taste to orange. The clementine was created from a hybrid carried out in the 19th century by the French-Algerian priest Clement Rodier. He hybridized a Mediterranean tangerine (a variety of mandarin) with bitter orange (a citrus tree whose fruit is not edible and whose trunk is used as a rootstock, ie the base of the graftage of other citrus trees). The resulting fruit is named after him: clementine. Flowering of the tree in the spring and its fruit ripens on the tree in October-November.
