משפחת דניאל ואסתר בן סניור ממגורשי ספרד שעלו לארץ ישראל מאיזמיר שבתורכיה והתיישבו בעיר העתיקה בירושלים. הסבא דניאל נולד בעיר העתיקה ב-1839 והיה בין הראשונים שבשנת 1882 יצא לייסד את שכונת "אוהל משה" מחוץ לחומות. אבי, יליד 1896 בכורם של סבא דניאל ושל סבתא אסתר ילידת 1878 היה בכור ילדי השכונה, אח לסרינה ולרשל. בצילומים משנת 1933 נראים סבתא אסתר ונכדיה (1) וסבא דניאל ונכדו (2).

דניאל סינור (סניור) היה המוכתר הראשון של השכונה. הוא החזיק חנות ירקות בעיר העתיקה בשותפות עם ערבי. קראו לא "אל ראיס" (הנשיא). בנו אברהם סינור היה הבן הבכור שנולד בשכונה. על ימיה הראשונים של השכונה הוא מספר: תחילה בנה אביו שני חדרים, זה על גבי זה, לאחר מכן הוסיף עליהם עוד חדר קטן. החדר שבקומה התחתונה שימש לאחר מכן חנות כדוגמת הבתים ב"אבן ישראל" אשר קומותיהם התחתונות שימשו בתחילה בתי מגורים והיום הפכו חנויות ובתי מלאכה. מחיר כל נומרו (מספר) דירה היה תשעים נפוליונים. כדמי מפרעה (מקדמה) שילמו עשרה נפוליונים ולאחר מכן עשרה נפוליונים כל שנה.
מוצאה של משפחת סינור מאיזמיר, וכשבא אביו לגור בשכונה היו כל השדות שמסביב לה שוממים. בשעת חנוכת הבית ערך סעודה גדולה ושחט תרנגולת מחשש עין הרע. בן סינור היה שמש של בית-הכנסת טארנטו ונהג לדפוק במקלו בהשכמת הבוקר על חלונות יחידי בית-הכנסת כדי לעוררם לאמירת הסליחות. פעם השאירו חלון אחד פתוח ומאחוריו הסתתרו ילדים. משקירב את מקלו אל החלון שלחו הנערים את ידיהם ואחזו בו. בן סינור התחנן לפניהם כי ירפו ממנו "כי הזמן קצר והמלאכה מרובה".

The Family of Daniel and Esther Ben Senior, descendants of Jews expelled from Spain, immigrated to Ereiz Israel from Izmir, Turkey, and settied in the Old City of Jerusalem. Grandfather Daniel was born in the Old City in 1839, and was among the first who went outside its walls to establish the Ohel Moshe quarter in 1882. My father. born in 1896, was the eldest son of grandfather Daniel and grandmother Esther (b. 1878), and was also the first child born in Ohel Moshe. He had two sisters: Sarina and Rashel. Levana Ben Senior

Daniel Ben Senior was the first mukhtar. He had a vegetable shop in the Old City in partnership with an Arab. They called him al-Rais. His son Avraham was the first child born in the quarter. He relates about the early days of the quarter, that at first his father built two rooms, one atop af the other. After that he added a smaller room on top of them. Later, the room in the ground floor served as a store, like in the buildings of the Even Yisrael quarter whose ground floors at first were residences and today have been converted into stores and workshops. The cost of each apartment was 90 Napoleons. After a down payment of 1O Napoleons, they paid another 10 every year. The Senior family came from Izmir and when his father took up residence in the quarter all the fields around it were unoccupied. When he consecrated his house he prepared a huge feast and slaughtered a chicken to keep away the evil eye.
