זאב רבן תר"ן - תש"ל
יליד פולין, ב-1912 עלה לארץ להורות ב"בצלאל". השתקע בירושלים והיה ממקימי שכונת בית הכרם. יצירתו המגוונת, הכוללת איור ספרים, ציור על אריחי קרמיקה וכן תבליט ופיסול בנחושת, בעץ ובאבן, מתמקדת בנושאים יהודיים ומאפיינת את "סגנון בצלאל". נהג לצייר בשתי ידיו ובעודו מצייר היה מזמר לעצמו אופרות.

Ze’ev Raban 1890-1970
Born in Poland, made aliya in 1912 to teach at Bezalel. Settled in Jerusalem and was one of the founders of the Beit Hakerem neighborhood. His wide range of works, embracing book illustrations, painting on ceramic tiles, repoussé and sculpting in copper, wood and stone, focused on Jewish subjects and is imbued with the Bezalel style. Painted with both hands, while singing operatic arias to himself.

מאז היותי ילדה חייתי בתוך ציוריו של סבי, שהיו תלויים בכל פינה בבית ומילאוהו ביופיים. בייחוד נגעו אל לבי ציורי עקדת יצחק, אשר צייר בגרסאות שונות, עד ליום נפילת בנו אלדד במלחמת השחרור. מאז לא עסק בנושא, כוחותיו אבדו לו.

Abel Pann 1883-1962
From my childhood on I lived among my grandfather’s paintings, which hung everywhere in the house, filling it with their beauty. I was particularly fond of his Sacrifice of Isaac paintings, of which he produced a number of versions, until the death of his son Eldad in the War of Independence. After that he gave up the subject, his energy sapped by the tragedy.

יעקב שטארק תרמ"א-תרע"ה
יליד גליציה, עלה לארץ בשנת 1906 ונמנה עם ראשוני התלמידים והמורים ב"בצלאל". נפטר בדמי ימיו. היה אמן האות העברית. ביצירתו המונומנטלית, המעטרת את בית הכנסת "עדס" בירושלים, בולטים מנורה, מגן דוד ואותיות עבריות, שהאמנות העברית אימצה כסמליה המובהקים.

Yaakov Stark 1881-1915
Born in Galicia, made aliya in 1906 and one of Bezalel’s first students and teachers. Died young. He was an artist of Hebrew letters. Prominent features of his monumental work decorating the Ades Synagogue in Jerusalem are a menorah, a Magen David and Hebrew letters, which Jewish art came to adopt as its preeminent symbols.
