The barracks neighborhood
In 1912, sixteen families arrived in Rishon Lezion from the Sharab region in southern Yemen. They were part of the wave of aliyah started by Shmuel Yavnieli, the emissary of the Eretz Israel Ministry. At the request of Arthur Ruppin, the colony committee allocated them four dunams in the south of the colony, on which four barracks were built, which were later called the "barracks neighborhood." Each hut is divided into four rooms, one room for each family. Over the years, more immigrants from Yemen joined this place.
