לאחר קום המדינה, עם הגעת הרכבת הרשמית הראשונה לירושלים, נאם דוד בן-גוריון בטקס פתיחת הקו. בתמונה הוא נראה נואם מדלת קרון טרקלין מספר 95 בתחנת ירושלים.
"ירושלים מקבלת היום את הרכבת העברית הראשונה", הכריז בדבריו, 7.8.1949, י"ב באב, התש"ט.

After the establishiment of the state, with the arrival of the first official train to Jerusalem, Ben-Gurion gave a speech at the ceremony marking the opening of the line. In this photo he is shown speaking from the door of saloon car No. 95 at the Jerusalem station.
"Today Jerusalem welcomes the first Hebrew train," he declared, August 7, 1949.

Sign No. 51 in a series of signs placed on or around lighting poles, including the history of the old railway line to Jerusalem, along which its route extends the HaMesila (Railway) Park.
