The first meeting of the founders of Ir Shalom was on 25.2.1922, 27 Bishvat 1922.

From the report of the delegation that examined the feasibility of purchasing the land for settlement:
"Throughout the wide square lay the stillness of death and the desolation of generations. Here and there you noticed thorns and wild bushes ..."
