בתש"ו (1946) ערכו פה לוחמי חרות ישראל (לח"י) ניסיונות ראשונים בייצור חומרי נפץ.
המקום שימש גם מקום מסתור לנשק.
בזמן המצור על ירושלים הועברו מכאן חומרי נפץ גם לידי האצ"ל וההגנה.

In 1946, members of the Lehi practiced manufacturing explosives in this building, which served as an arms cache as well.
Explosives were also sent from here to Etzel and Hagana fighters during the siege on Jerusalem.
