historical background

: (The Lehi symbol was taken from one of the signs on the site)
Lehi - the acronym for Israel’s Freedom Fighters, was considered the most militant of the three undergrounds. The underground was founded in 1940 by Etzel people who did not agree to cooperate with the British in their war against the Nazis. The underground was founded by Avraham Stern ("Yair") who was murdered by a British detective officer during his arrest .

The Lehi was considered by the British to be a terrorist organization (the Stern gang), and pursued its leaders and soldiers. Many of its soldiers were placed in detention camps in Latrun and Eritrea, and some were even executed by hanging.

The Lehi’s actions were explosions in British centers of government, but also in civilian places (mainly concentrations of Arab residents), assassinations of British government officials and soldiers, attacks on railways, army camps and more.

With the establishment of the state, Lehi units were integrated into the IDF.

Among the Lehi commanders you can find: Avraham Stern ("Yair"), Yitzhak Shamir, Israel Shaiv-Eldad, and more.

Commands
The Lehi headquarters was in Tel Aviv, which changed several locations .
The headquarters in Jerusalem was located in the "Dror" camp

Weapons production
The Lehi made experiments in the production of explosives, mainly to use it to blow up British government centers
A significant part of the weapons that were in the possession of the Lehi, were weapons that were taken after break-ins into the facilities of the British government

Slicks
The weapon was hidden in Slicks which were hiding places in a variety of places: Synagogues
For more details, see the extended entry on the subject Slick.

The Voice of the Hebrew Underground
The Lehi broadcasting station was established in 1941 and operated from Tel Aviv . Geula Cohen was one of the station’s announcers, along with Nathan Marfish.
