"Nahabir" - Old Be’eri~
Security House
This building and the nearby water tower remain as evidence of the first settlement point of Kibbutz Be’eri, which was established as part of Operation 11 Points, on the evening of Yom Kippur 5707 (October 1946). The building served as the security house of the settlement, where the weapons, communications equipment, medical equipment and headquarters were concentrated. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, it became clear that the security houses established in the settlements were not intended for war against a regular army that had tanks, airplanes and cannons, and it was decided to evacuate them and dig in the ground. After the War of Independence, Kibbutz Be’eri moved its settlement about 3 km east.
