Comments:
The statue is located in Parliament Square, and is one of the 12 statues surrounding the square.

The statue shows Dame Millicent Fawcett (1847-1929), one of the leaders of the suffragist movement in Britain, and a fighter for women’s rights. Following her activity in the organization NUWSS (National Union of Women’s Suffrage Societies) women were granted the right to vote in 1918.

The bronze sculpture was made in 2018 by Gillian Wearing
The statue shows Millicent Fawcett at the age of 50 (1897), at the time of her appointment as NUWSS president, holding a cloth banner in her hand that reads:
COURAGE CALLS TO COURAGE EVERYWHERE
which is a quote from a speech she gave in 1920
