‎‫בחפירות שנערכו בשנת 1970 נתגלה מגדל שמירה‬‎ ‎‫(מצד), בנוי אבני גוויל גדולות שתכניתו רבועה‬‎ 8x8 ). המגדל נועד, כנראה, להגן על אחת הדרכים‎ ‎‫החשובות המוליכות לירושלים ועל העובדים בשדות‬‎ ‎‫בסביבתו.‬‎

‎‫העמוד המחורר בחלקו העליון, הנמצא סמוך למבנה.‬‎ ‎‫שימש ככל הנראה לקשירת סוסים‬‎

‎‫בין הממצאים שהתגלו באתר. כלי חרס מזוגגים‬‎ ‎‫בזיגוג בצבע ירוק ומעוטרים בעיטורי תבליט‬‎ ‎‫זמנו של המגדל בין המאות הי"ב – הט"ו לספירה.

A watch tower from the Mamluk period

In the excavations conducted in 1970, a guard tower was discovered (Mesad), built of large field stones with a square plan (8x8). The tower was probably intended to protect one of the important roads leading to Jerusalem and the workers in the fields around it.

The pillar with a hole in its upper part, which is near the building. It was probably used for tying horses.

Among the findings discovered on the site. Pottery glazed with a green glaze and decorated with relief decorations, the time of the tower between the 12th and 15th centuries AD.
