This building, which belongs to the United States government, was the administrative headquarters for the planning of the "Marshall Plan", the plan for the recovery of Europe after World War II. The plan, named after the American Secretary of State George Marshall, was intended to rebuild Europe and contain communism. The European countries that joined the agreement - the OEEC organization, are now the countries that belong to the OECD organization, the Organization for European Economic Cooperation.
