The Great Synagogue of Budapest (Dohány Street Synagogue) is the largest synagogue in Europe. The synagogue was designed by Ludwig von Forster and inaugurated in 1859.
Benjamin Ze’ev Herzl, whose house was next to the synagogue, celebrated his bar mitzvah there.
