EN MEMORIA DE LAS VICTIMAS DEL ATENTADO CONTRA SS M.M. D. ALFONSO XIII Y DA VICTORIA EUGENIA
EL 31 DE MAYO DE 1906

On the wedding day of King Alfonso XIII and his wife, the British Princess Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg (31 May 1906), after the wedding ceremony, an assassin threw a bouquet of flowers with a bomb inside at them. The king and queen were unharmed, but 24 people were killed.
The monument was erected at the place where the bomb was dropped.

The statue was made by Federico Coullaut-Valera and was erected in 1963
