תמונות הפסיפס שהורכבו על חומת היקב אשר הוקמה בשנת 1902 מהוות נגסיון ליצירת חיבור בין עבר להווה. היצירות שנעשו על ידי יוצרים צעירים בני העיר, מבטאות באמצעים עכשוויים רגעים בהיסטוריה של ראשון לציון.

הפרויקט נערך ביוזמת עיריית ראשון-לציון, הלשכה לתיאום פרויקטים מיוחדים באיכות הסביבה ושימור אתרים ובשיתוף מוזיאון ראשון לציון.
בחוויית היצירה השתתפו תלמידים מחטיבות הביניים בעיר: "המעיין", "זלמן ארן", "דורות", ו"בן גוריון" בעיצובה ובהנחייתה של האמנית יעל פורטוגז.

העבודות אשר נעשו בטכניקת פסיפס מודרנית. משלבות אמנות עם ערכים של איכות הסביבה. על ידי שימוש חוזר בחומרים בלתי מתכלים כגון קרמיקה ושברי זכוכית.

התמונות מתבססות על צילומים היסטוריים מאוסף מוזיאון ראשון לציון.
במהלך עבודתם הגיעו התלמידים למוזיאון, נחשפו למידע היסטורי ולמדו להכיר את האתרים, האירועים והדמויות המופיעים בעבודותיהם וכן את תולדות היקב שעל חומתו הורכבו תמונות הפסיפס.

RISHON LE-ZION IN MOSAICS
The mosaic pictures place on the winery walls, built in 1902, are an attempt in makıng connecting between old and new. These works of art join Rishon Le-Zion’s history with the modern techniques applied by the city’s young artists.

The project was initiated by The Municipality of Rishon Le-Zion’s Special-Projects Office for the Environment and Preservation of Historic Sites in collaboration with the Museum of Rishon Le-Zion.
The city’s students from the following Junior High Schools Participated in the creative experience: "Ha’maayan", "Zalman Aran", "Dorot" and "Ben-Gurion" designed and guided by the artist, Yael Portugheis.

The works, combining art with environmental values, employ modern mosaic techniques achieved through the repetitive use of non-expendable materials such as ceramics and broken glass.

The works, are based on historic photographs from the Museum of Rishon Le-Zion. As part of their investigation, the students visited the museum, obtained information, familiarized themselves with the sites, events and images appearing in their works and learned about the winery, on whose walls their works would appear.

One of the signs initiated by Rishon Lezion Museum depicting historic places in the city and also include the The Pioneers’ Way.
