כאן נוסדה המושבה ראשון-לציון. אל ראש גבעה זו הגיעו שבע-עשרה משפחות המייסדים, ביום ט"ו באב תרמ"ב ,31 ביולי 1882. עד מהרה הייתה הגבעה השוממה וזרועת הקוצים למרכז המושבה השוקק חיים. סביב נבנו בתים פרטיים, מבנים ומתקנים ציבוריים ראשונים: בית כנסת, בית הרפואות, צריף הדואר, פעמון המושבה, תחנת הדיליז’אנס ובית הספר.

Rishon Le-Zion was founded at the top of this hill where 17 founding families arrived in July 31, l882. This weed-infested, deserted hill became the center of a flourishing village. Around Founders’ Square private homes were built as well as the synagogue, pharmacy, post-office, village bell, "diligence" (stage coach) station and school.
