סיוע איטלקי לקומנדו הימי הישראלי (שייטת 13)

מנקודה זו, ב- 21 באוקטובר 1948 יצא כוח קומנדו ימי בפיקודו של יוחאי בן נון (לימים מפקד חיל הים) עם סירות נפץ, לסיכול איום החפה בחופי הארץ.
סירות הנפץ (מסוג "אסולטו דימאצי") נרכשו באיטליה קודם לכן ויחד איתן הגיע לארץ מדריך איטלקי בשם פיורנצו קאפריוטי (איש קומנדו ימי איטלקי לשעבר)שפיקח על הכשרת הלוחמים בים כנרת וליווה אותם עד לנקודה זו ממנה יצאו להסתערות;
הקומנדו הימי האיטלקי היווה מקור להשראה בשנותיה הראשונות של שייטת 13 וגם סמל ומופת למחשבה מקורית ולתעוזה.

חץ זה מסמל את התעושה והיצירתיות של הלוחמים משתי המדינות ומתקף את היחסים המיוחדים בין שתי המדינות.

Italian Assistance to the Israeli Naval Commando Unit

From this point, the port of Jaffa, an Israeli naval commando force under the command of Yohai Ben-Nun (who later became the Commander in Chief of the Israeli Navy) set out on the 21st of October 1948 using explosive motorboats on a mission to protect the coast of Israel.
The explosive motorboats were purchased earlier in Italy and arrived in Israel along with an Italian ex-naval commando, Fiorenzo Capriotti, who provided training and instruction for the Israeli commandos in the Sea of Galilee until they deployed here for their operational strike.
The Italian Naval Commando Unit (Decima Fottiglia MAS) was a source of inspiration in the early years of the Israeli Naval Commando Unit - a model for courage and creative thought.
This marker commemorates the élan of Israelis and Italians fighting troops and the partnership betryeen the countries.

The sign marks point 11 in the "Generation Arrow" project - a project launched by the IDF’s Foreign Relations Division to commemorate Israeli military cooperation (including pre-state operations) and armies of foreign countries.
