בבניין זה שכנה בשנים תש"ד-תש"ו (1944-1946)
מפקדת חיל השדה (חי"ש).
את החיל הקימה ההגנה - צבא המדינה שבדרך - בשנת תש"א (1941).
חיל השדה הורכב משמונה חטיבות חיל רגלים של ההגנה, אשר בשיתוף עם שלוש חטיבות הפלמ"ח היו הכוח שהשיג את הניצחון במלחמת העצמאות.

The Field Corps Headqurters
of the Hagana - Israel’s pre-State army -
were located here from 1944 to 1946.
The field Corps’ established in 1941, consisted of eight Hagana infantry division.
Together with the three Palmach division, they comprised the force responsible for Israel’s victory in the War of Independence.
