קליטת עלייה בעשור הראשון למדינה
עם קום המדינה, החלה עלייה המונית לארץ ותוך מספר שנים אוכלוסיית ישראל הוכפלה. ההסתדרות שנטלה על עצמה את האחריות להכנת התשתית לקליטת העולים, הקימה מערכות של שירותים חברתיים.

במהלך העשור הראשון למדינה, כשברקע ההתמודדות עם מלחמת העצמאות ומצב כלכלי קשה, ההסתדרות הקימה באמצעות סולל בונה, למעלה מ 150 אלף יחידות דיור שמרביתן יועדו לעולים וסללה כבישים באזורי הספר והפיתוח. במקביל, ההסתדרות הקימה באמצעות התאגיד כור, מפעלי תעשייה, תוך יצירת מקורות תעסוקה חדשים לאלפי עולים כגון אליאנס, טלרד, סולתם ועוד.

Absorption of immigrants in the first decade of the state

During the first decade of the state, with the background of the war of independence and a difficult economic situation, the Histadrut established through Solel Boneh, more than 150,000 housing units, most of which were intended for immigrants and paved roads in the frontier and development areas.
