חפירתה של הבאר הראשונה, באר א’, התחילה ביוני תרצ"ב (1932) בתרצ"ג (1933).
הבאר נחפרה לעומק של 20 מ’ בהדרכתו של מהנדס המים שמחה בלאס.
שאיבת המים הראשונה מהבאר הייתה ב-ד’ ניסן תרצ"ג-31.3.1933, כחודש לפני תחילת העברת הצריפים מבית הראשונים אל נקודת הקבע.

The first well
The excavation of the first well, Well A, began in June 1932 and 1933.
The well was excavated to a depth of 20 m under the guidance of water engineer Simcha Blass.
The first pumping of water from the well was on March 31, 1933, about a month before the transfer of the barracks from the Rishonim house to the permanent point began.
