Scientific name - Ceratonia siliqua | Arabic name - Khruv خروب
Family - Fabaceae. The leaf consists of several pairs of large, elliptical leaflets. The fruit is used for food and folk medicine. Carob seeds have been used in the past to measure weight in small units, and are the origin of the term ’carat’.
