מלון המלך דוד
במלון המלך דוד שכנו המזכירות של ממשלת המנדט הבריטי בארץ ישראל והמפקדה הראשית של הצבא. ב־ 22 ביולי 1946 הטמינו לוחמי האצ"ל, בהוראת "תנועת המרי העברי", מטענים בקומת המרתף.
למרכזית המלון, למערכת ה"פלסטין פוסט " ולקונסוליה הצרפתית נמסרו הודעות טלפוניות לפנות את הבניין כדי למנוע קורבנות אדם.
הבניין לא פונה וכעבור 25 דקות נשמע פיצוץ אדיר. כל האגף הדרומי של המלון נהרס כליל.
כתוצאה מהפיצוץ נהרגו, למרבה הצער, 92 איש, כולל איש האצ"ל שנהרג בחילופי יריות שהתנהלו במקום.

King David Hotel
The hotel housed the British Mandate Secretariat as well as the Army Headquarters. On July 22 1946, Irgun fighters, at the order of the Hebrew Resistance Movement, planted explosives in the basement.
Warning phone calls has been made, to the hotel’s dispatch, the "Palestine Post" and the French Consulate, urging the hotel’s occupants to leave immediately.
The hotel was not evacuated, and after 25 minutes, the bombs exploded. The entire western wing was destroyed and to the Irgun’s regret 92 persons were killed.

The sign shape is square but its head is designed according to the silhouette of the old building of the Gymnasia Herzliya, which serves as a logo of the Council for the Preservation of Heritage Sites in Israel
