Next to the statue is another sign with more details about Kepler and the sculpture , which reads:

Homage to Johannes Kepler (1571-1630)
Yigal Tumarkin
Johannes Kepler (1571-1630), one of the greatest scientists and fathers of modern Astronomy, believed that the number of planets surrounding Sun known at that time, six, as well as their relative distances, was not a mere fact, but reflected Heavenly geometric plan of Cosmology. According to Kepler the five intervals between the six planets, were dictated by the geometry and symmetry of the five Platonic bodies (tetrahedron, cube, octahedron, dodecahedron, icosahedron) shown in the sculpture. To correct some inconsistencies between this model and previous observations made by the astronomer Tycho Brahe, Kepler devised a revolutionary correct concept of eliptical rather than circular orbits of the planets and all the astronomical bodies.
