On the basis of the sculpture is the inscription in which the years in which Tollens lived and the place of his birth and death:

Hendrik Tollens was a Dutch poet, whose best-known work is the Dutch national anthem. The statue dedicated to Tollens also because he was a resident of Rotterdam is one of the oldest sculptures in Rotterdam that was erected as early as 1860.
The sculpture was created by the German sculptor Jean Theodore Stracké Error
Note the mistake in the year of birth of the sculptor , written 1870 and should be 1817.
