ביתו של ר’ חיים בר שוורץ
עולה הרגל לירושלים
ר’ חיים בר, נמנה על החלוצים הראשונים ממייסדי המושבה, כאיכר מושרש באדמתו, חתר לקדם את משקו ולשם כך תר אחר שיטות חדשות בעיבוד הקרקע והכנסת גידולים חדשים.
כשומר דת ומצוות השלם באמונתו מילא ר’ חיים בר את מצוות העליה לרגל לירושלים ככתבה וכלשונה.
בשבוע ימים עשה הוא את דרכו ברגל מזכרון יעקב לירושלים ופרק זמן זה בדרכו חזרה למושבה.

ראובן שוורץ (1885-1917), נולד בזכרון יעקב, בן לחיים בר שוורץ וסלובה (שרה) לבית אהרונסון.
היה מאנשי ניל"י, בשלהי מלחמת העולם הראשונה, מילא תפקידים חשובים ומסוכנים, בתחנת הניסיונות בעתלית וקשר מתמיד עם הספינה הבריטית "מנגם".
סרב להתפנות למצרים עם הנהגת ניל"י ושרה אהרונסון.
הסגיר את עצמו לידי התורכים כדי להציל את חותנו אלטר אלברט מידי התורכים. עונה קשות, ולא הסגיר את אנשי ניל"י. מצא את מותו בתא הכלא.
גופתו הוטמנה תחילה בבית הקברות בעפולה ובשנת 1926 הועברו עצמותיו לבית העלמין בזכרון יעקב.
על שמו, נקרא רחוב ראובן, בשכונת נווה הברון.

Pilgrim to Jerusalem
Rav Haim Ber is one of Zichron Ya’akov’s founding fathers. A dedicated farmer striving to improve land cultivation, Haim Ber was an enthusiastic innovator of agricultural methods who introduced new crops to the local community.
Haim Ber was devoted to tradition, religion and heritage, fulfilling the commandment of pilgrimage, by making the week-long walk to Jerusalem.
It took him another week to return to Zichron Ya’akov.

Reuven Schwartz (1885-1917) Son of Haim Ber Schwartz and Slova (Sarah) of the Aharonson family, was born in Zichron Ya’akov.
He was a member of the NILI espionage network, and filled important roles at the Atlit Agricultural Research Station during World War I. Through this position, he maintained communication with the British ship Managem. He refused to evacuate to Egypt with the leadership of Nili and Sarah Ahronson.
He turned himself in to the Ottomans to save his father-in-law Alter Albert.
He answered harshly and did not betray the people of Nili. He died due to severe torture in prison. His remains were transferred from Afula to the Zichron Ya’akov cemetery in 1926. There is a street named after Reuven, the Neve HaBaron Neighborhood.
