בית שלום אש
דאס שלום אַש־הױז
בבית זה התגוררו שלום ומתילדה אש בשנים 1957-1955.
שלום אש (1957-) סופר, מחזאי ואספן, נולד בעיירה קוטנו שבפולין והקדיש את חייו לכתיבה ביידיש. בכתיבתו הציורית עסק אש בחיי העיירה היהודית ובתולדות העם היהודי. הוא היה לסופר בעל שם, וכתביו תורגמו לשפות רבות והתפרסמו ברחבי העולם.
בעקבות מפגש עם דוד בן-ארי, ראש העיר הראשון של בת ים, השתקעו שלום ומתילדה אש בעיר בבית זה, שנבנה עבורם בשנת 1955. כעבור כשנתיים, בעת ביקור בלונדון, נפטר שלום אש. בצוואתה הורישה מתילדה אש את הבית, על ספרייתו ואוספי האמנות והיודאיקה שבו, לעיר בת ים, כדי שישמש מוזיאון ובית למורשת שלום אש.

THE SHOLEM ASCH HOUSE
Yiddish novelist and playwright Sholem Asch (1880-1957) lived in this house with his wife, Mathilde between the years 1955-1957.
Asch devoted his life to the Yiddish language and culture, becoming one of his generation’s most prominent voices.
Asch and his wife settled in Bat Yam in 1955 accepting an invitation extended by Mayor David Ben Ari. Following Asch’s death in 1957, Mathilde Asch bequeathed the house and its collections to the city, thus transforming it to a museum dedicated to Asch’s heritage.

The sign shape is rectangular but its head is designed according to the silhouette of the old building of the Gymnasia Herzliya, which serves as a logo of the Council for the Preservation of Heritage Sites in Israel
