The monument standing in the center of the square was photographed on the same day by the same photographer.
The monument was made by Dani Karvan and on the stone tablets is the speech in Yiddish given by Haim Weizmann at the 22nd Zionist Congress in Basel
The part of the speech appears in the panels shown in the picture.
The following text appears on the monument:
לזכור ודבר לא לשכוח
TO REMEMBER AND NOT TO FORGET
Below is a translation of the entire speech into English
Remember... there is hardly a single Jew who would not have lost part of his family. Twenty threads connect us with the martyred and pure ones. The time will come, history will be written and there will be a judge who will judge the actions of humanity. We seek to worship God with hammer and rake, knowing that building the Land of Israel is the greatest mitzvah. Here we will search and maybe in time we will find some comfort. We were destined to make our souls whole again and all that we lost in the wisdom of the Torah, good deeds and virtues. Thats why everyone who studies, every class and every school, is a treasure for us, a national treasure. In this way, the great losses we had in the communities of Warsaw, Radichio, Odessa, Košnio Ilana will be compensated, this is a privilege for us. And at the same time a debt. And we know the difficulties, we clearly see our goal and we will reach it. Do not be afraid, servant of Jacob! Chaim Weizman from the book held at the 22nd Zionist Congress in Basel, December 16, 1946. XII.9
