Amélie Nothomb
(1967)

(1967)

Autumn 2007: Belgian Amélie Nothomb is awarded the Flore prize for Ni d’Ève ni d’Adam. The press highlights her victory: not only was the award, which usually distinguishes young authors, given to the writer’s sixteenth novel, but the jury, assuming not to follow any rules, chose a work which did not appear in his last official fisting. Nothomb thus joins the authors who, since 1994, have received a stemmed glass engraved with their surname, in which a drink will be served for a year. With a long tradition of trophies bearing the name of its cafes, Saint-Germain is not at its first twist. Since the 1930s and the creation of the Prix des Deux Magots, the custom has continued, inscribing a part of literary history in the bistros of the Left Bank.
