Statue of Joan of Arc (Maid of Orleans) (1412-1431), the French heroine during the struggle to liberate France from English occupation in the Hundred Years’ War.
Joan of Arc fought while wearing men’s clothing, is considered one of the great heroines of the French nation and the one who liberated the city of Orléans from the English siege.
She was captured by the English and burned at the stake on charges of witchcraft.
She spent several days in Blois, at the end of April 1429, before the Battle of Orléans, where she was also blessed by the people of the church of Saint-Sauveur.
The statue located in the Bishopric Garden is a replica of a statue created by the American sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington, made in 1915 and placed in New York and made history by being the first public monument made by a woman, and also the first monument in New York City dedicated to a woman.
The statue was placed in the city in 1921.
The statue was photographed on the same day
